Directing
I am drawn to stories that give us something to gather around.
As a director, I am interested in the space between what a story has been and what it might still become. I look for perspectives that bring us closer to the work, questions that challenge our assumptions, and moments that invite an audience to see something differently.
I bring curiosity, generosity, and a strong sense of ensemble into the room. I believe a director should have a clear point of view while leaving space for actors, designers, musicians, and collaborators to bring their own.
I care deeply about the work, and just as deeply about the people making it.
In The Room
I come into the room prepared, with a point of view and a lot of questions.
My job is to hold the whole picture while making room for discovery. Actors, designers, musicians, technicians, and collaborators see things I cannot see on my own. I want those perspectives in the work.
That means protecting the story, listening closely, making decisions when decisions need to be made, and building a room grounded in trust, communication, collaboration, and respect.
I believe ambitious work can also be generous work. We can challenge each other, take the work seriously, and still take care of the people making it.
The goal is to make something together that none of us could have made alone, and to give the audience something worth gathering around.
